The Arcona 430 was European Yacht of the Year 2009, and offers a new dimension in cruiser-racing, without compromise on performance or comfort. Designed as a performance cruiser that can race at weekends, she is a modern yachtsman’s dream – truly competitive in performance terms and luxurious below decks, offering an unrivalled ambience, space, light, and comfort. Structurally, at the heart of the boat is a galvanised steel cradle that takes all the dynamic loads from the mast, rig, and keel making her immensely strong. The Arcona 430 is built with the latest materials and advanced techniques. Her lay-up, which incorporates a 20mm Divinycell foam core employs the latest vacuum infusion technology. All bulkheads are bonded to the hull and deck for added strength. Her sailing capability can be summed up in three words: balanced, stiff, and direct. Feedback through the wheel is intuitive, and the deep rudder provides an excellent grip. She has also been praised for her crew-friendly design: a large foredeck area, wide side-decks, and all lines leading aft. Below decks the Arcona 430 lives up to anticipation: warm Khaya mahogany, Swedish quality, and rich comfort. A white headlining and 6ft 4in standing room in the saloon/galley combine to give a welcoming feeling of space and light. Features include a curved seating area around the table, which can accommodate seven and converts to a double berth, double-sink galley, large top-opening fridge, and good stowage. The identical aft cabins are a good size, and the owner’s cabin forward has an island bed and roomy ensuite heads and shower. There are ample lockers and hanging space.

The Arcona 400 has been the most popular boat in the Arcona range since her introduction at the Stockholm Boat Show in 2001, where she was she was awarded Boat of the Year. With stunning modern looks, technically-advanced construction, and performance to die for, she optimises cruising and racing and is easily sailed by a short-handed crew. Structurally, Arconas are built to withstand the toughest of sea conditions. At the heart of their build lies a substantial galvanised steel cross frame to which the mast, rigging, and keel are firmly attached. This cradle takes all the dynamic loads on the hull, which can consequently be made lighter to improve her performance under sail. The hull and decks are made from 20mm-thick Divinycell foam, sandwiched between a tough water resistant multi-axial polyester laminate. The bulk heads and interior are laminated to the hull and deck to give additional strength and rigidity. The level of craftsmanship throughout reflects our Swedish roots. Below decks the Arcona 400 offers: beautiful Khaya Mahogany varnished to a high satin finish, a high level of interior comfort, a spacious and bright saloon, different cabin layouts, a well-fitted galley, generous chart table, and a heads compartment with a shower and wet-clothes locker. Designed for family living despite her racing credentials, the Arcona 400 offers 2 or 3 cabin versions and 1 or 2 toilets. In summary, she is an all-round winner, blending together enviable speed, ease of handling, and total comfort. Indeed the Arcona 400 effectively sums up what the Arcona experience is all about.

    £15,995

Specifications:   Year:                       1989                       LOA:                       8.69 m Beam:                     3.14 m                                              Draft:                      1.70 m Construction:           GRP                                                   Hull / Keel:              FIN HIN:                        N/A   Description: "This is a very well cared for yacht, surprisingly spacious and comfortable above and below deck. An excellent family cruiser that’s also very easy to manage single-handed.The French like their comfort and Skye is a very comfortable yacht combining a large open cockpit and spacious comfortable saloon. We have owned 'Skye' for 10 years and cruised around the whole of the south coast and across to northern France. She was first registered in April 1989 and was highly specified from new for weekend racing and family cruising. She has a fin keel, sugar scoop stern, and inboard diesel mounted over the keel in the centre of the saloon. The engine position keeps the weight low and central and also means the stern double cabin is unusually spacious as it’s not encroached by the engine. 'Skye' has a particularly spacious saloon and large drop leaf table. The saloon also provides sleeping for two adults with two more in the Breton berth in the forepeak and a large double aft cabin with wardrobe. 'Skye' benefits from upgraded main winches plus two additional cockpit winches making handling under all sail configurations easier. There are a further two winches on the coachroof and a reefing winch on the mast. A 14hp Beta diesel was installed in November 2010, replacing the underpowered and noisy single cylinder Volvo. The twin cylinder Beta is smoother running, more powerful and has better economy than the Volvo. It is also easier to access the main components for servicing than the Volvo. The engine has less than 100 hours running since installation. The cockpit seating is finished in teak boards and the sole has a full size teak grating. There is a very large cockpit locker and plenty of storage under the stern seat. The main sail handling lines run across aft to the coachroof giving easy and protected access whilst under way. The sliding hatch and washboards are tinted Perspex allowing plenty of light into the cabin. 'Skye' has been well looked after and maintained. All of the vinyl headlining was professionally replaced in 2014 and remains in 1st class condition. The genoa was new in 2015 and has had very little use since. The sprayhood and dodgers were replaced in 2012 and are still in very good condition. There is a lazyjack system making stowage of the mainsail quick and simple. The leisure batteries were replaced in April 2016 with 2 x Numax 110Ah deep cycle batteries. 'Skye' has been fitted with all new navigation electronics - a fully networked Simrad/B&G system including speed, depth and wind, DSC VHF, Class B AIS, 12” touchscreen Simrad NSS Evo2 Chart System (mounted on coachroof) & 2 x mulifunction instrument displays mounted on the coachroof garage, 1 x colour instrument display mounted at the chart table, a B&G 7” touchscreen multifunction display mounted at the chart table and a Simrad TP32 tillerpilot. In the saloon there is a Sony DAB radio/CD surround sound system and a Panasonic  24” TV (currently without aerial). 'Skye' has shore power with galvanic isolation and circuit breakers protecting the 240V onboard sockets. She comes with quite a full inventory of warps, fenders, anchors, jackstays and many other bits and bobs including 'Skye' fender socks! She is lying ashore so can be viewed top to bottom."   Engine(s) & Electrical: Beta 14hp diesel (2010). Serial number: ALG518. Fuel capacity: 35 litres.
