Oyster Brokerage are delighted to welcome a stunning example of the iconic raised saloon Oyster 82 to our fleet. Hull number 15 of the successful 82 model, Mathilda Sound was launched in 2011. She has been maintained by a professional crew since her commission and run with no restrictions on budget. Mathilda Sound is a proven charter yacht and perfect for family cruising. She is in fabulous condition.

 

The 82 is a renowned passage maker and comes with all the trusted sailing features you would expect of a class leading round-the-world capable luxurious sailing yacht.  Mathilda Sound has some unique cruising features and can easily be sailed and looked after by two crew, thus helping reduce running costs when not in charter mode.  Her well thought-out sail plan allows for short handed sailing when required with everything controlled from the safety of the cockpit.  With the raised saloon, the engine room on the 82 is likely the best in her field and allows direct access to all the ships engineering for ease of maintenance. DECK PLUMBING                  A hot and cold freshwater deck shower in transom locker. Groco saltwater combined deck wash and fire pump located under soleboards inforward port cabin/sail locker. 60 psi with short3m and long 24 hose. Freshwater outlet on deck at the bow, including hose, for freshwater washdown. Second freshwater outlet in the cockpit.

COCKPIT                             Walk-through teak-laid cockpit.

Stainless steel drinks holders to pedestals and at companionway.

COCKPIT TABLE                   Varnished cockpit tables port and starboard with stainless steel frames, folding leaves and insulated GRP boxes. Starboard box is refrigerated with Frigoboat cooling system. Non-standard lift-up teak leaves are fitted on the inboard faces of both cockpit tables and the port cockpit table can slide to starboard to join the port side table. The space created to starboard can then become a sun lounging area.

SUNBATHING AREA              Created by sliding the port table to join the starboard cockpit table.A sunbathing infill for port side seating of cockpit, including ferrules let into seating, stainless steel support legs and cushions.

Boom preventer system consists of two spectra spans along the boom, which attach to a separate length of spectra rope run through the spare spinnaker pole downhaul blocks back to the cockpit.

2 x Navtec A260-LE-060 hydraulic backstay tensioners with mechanical lock-off.

4. INTERIOR 

GENERAL                             
Eleven berths in five cabins, excluding the saloon. All berths, including doubles, are counted as sea berths with doubles having split mattresses to allow a central lee-cloth to provide the necessary support and separation. The eleventh berth is a pull down bunk in the port aft guest cabin. There is one extra pulman in each aft guest cabin and a baby berth infill in the master cabin.

Interior joinery finished in maple.

Designed to be modern and coordinated whilst remaining practical and durable whilst at sea. Essential features include sculpted fiddles and grabrails, ‘shadow-gap’ joints between panels and flush Oyster custom knobs for lockers and drawers.

 6. ENGINEERING 

ENGINE                               
A single Cummins Turbo-charged QSB5.9-305 MCD diesel engine of 227kW (305Hp) at 2600rpm is fitted.

The gearbox is a Twin Disc MG 5075A, which gives a reduction of 2.88:1 and incorporates a 7-degree down angle.

Bungs for engine and generator exhaust.

Racor duplex 75/900 Max fuel filters.

Jabsco electric oil change pump with a manifold and 4 takeoffs, one from each generator, one from the engine and one from the gearbox.

ENGINE HOURS                    
Approximately 2705 at November 2016.

PROPELLER                          

A 4-bladed 813mm (32") diameter Brunton Varifold folding propeller is connected to the engine via a 63mm diameter stainless steel propeller shaft, through a stainless steel custom fabricated P-bracket and stern gland fitted with a remote greaser.

ROPE CUTTER                       
Ambassador Marine rope cutter on prop shaft. Propspeed coating to propeller.

ALTERNATORS                     
Mastervolt 24v/150 Amp with Alpha Pro regulator.

Spare alternator belts fitted to avoid having to remove PTO in event of belt failure.

GENERATOR                         
2 xOnan 22.5kW MDKBT generator 50Hz, 220v with control panel at the AC panel.

Generator start/stop at port pedestal for generator set 1 only with a warning light to show the generator is running. Switch mounted on underside of pedestal to prevent accidental starting.

Amp meter and voltmeter for generator output monitoring.

Racor 900 fuel filters.

GENERATOR HOURS

BOWTHRUSTER                    
A 300 Lewmar vertical retract (28Hp), retractable, hydraulic bowthruster, driven off the generator PTO shaft.

STEERING SYSTEM               
Whitlock Mamba rod and gearbox system.

HYDRAULICS                       
Lewmar 400 Commander system to operate mainsail furling, headsail, staysail and windlass.

Upgraded with extra functions for in-mast furling rig.

When combined with Lewmar generator PTO shaft it enables the windlass and thruster to be run at the same time, but each with reduced power. All sail functions can run off the PTO in an emergency.

AIR CONDITIONING/HEATING               
Cruisair Stowaway 80,000 BTU reverse cycle heating and air conditioning system with remote air handlers. Compressors fitted in the engine room and air handlers under berths:

Aft cabin: 1 x 16,000 BTU unit.

Aft port cabin: 1 x 10,000 BTU unit.

Aft starboard cabin: 1 x 10,000 BTU unit.

Upper, lower saloon and galley: 2 x 16000 BTU units.

Forward starboard cabin and port cabin: 1 x 12000 BTU unit.

Extra 8,000 BTU (60Hz) Cruisair Stowaway unit behind lower saloon seatback with inlet/outlet grilles.

ICEMAKER                           
U-Line icemaker under worktop in lower saloon with dedicated 24v DC to 220v AC inverter.

WATERMAKER                      
Seafresh H2016 watermaker (276 ltrs/hr).

A remote control panel is fitted with remote pressure gauge, pressure valve and product flow meter, so unit can be started and controlled from one location. This unit is able to discharge into port, starboard or both tanks at once.

 7. TANKAGE AND PLUMBING

FUEL                                    
3,200 litres approximately (704 imp gallons/845 US gallons) in two GRP tanks.               

WATER                                
2,100 litres approximately (484 gallons/581 US gallons) in two GRP tanks.

TANK TENDER GAUGES         
Tank Tender contents gauge (using a dual read-out gauge with the fuel tanks) located at the electrical panel.

HOT WATER                         
From two insulated 93 litres approximately (20 imp gallons/24 US gallons) tanks heated by the engine’s heat exchanger, or by thermostatically-controlled 220v, 2kw immersion heater elements powered by the generator or dockside power. Each tank is fitted with a thermostatic safety blender valve.

PRESSURISED HOT AND COLD FRESHWATER SYSTEM     
Freshwater system upgraded to include a second twin coil calorifier serving aft end of

boat only. (Single pump and no changeover valves, etc.). All hot water pipes to be

lagged.

Second Groco freshwater pump with pressure relief valve, so that normally the aft end of the boat runs off one pump and the forward end off the other, whilst in an emergency the entire boat can run off either pump.

Calpeda AC powered high capacity freshwater pump and outlet in halyard locker for rapid filling of inflatable pool on foredeck. Pump valved so it can draw from either tank. Switch just inside sail locker hatch and AC socket in fo’c’sle plus DC socket in halyard locker.

HOLDING TANKS                 Polyethylene (HDPE) toilet holding tanks are installed for all four of the WCs. Each tank is configured for gravity discharge with additional ability to pump out from on deck. The tanks are fitted with electric tank capacity gauges.

 

GREY WATER                        
Grey water tank and pump fitted outside of aft cabin with soundproofing.

 

MANIFOLD SYSTEM             
Three manifold systems, one forward and two aft. The aft two manifolds are a bronze fabrication with one dedicated to the engine and generator and the other dedicated to refrigeration, air conditioning and other optional equipment. Both fed by a 63mm intake seacock and Aquafax heavy-duty 50mm chromed bronze strainer.

The forward manifold is stainless steel and is fed by a 38mm seacock and strainer.

All seacocks dezincification resistant (DZR) copper alloy quarter-turn ball valves.

The main engine and generator exhausts have a GRP standpipe (without seacock).

 

 8. ELECTRICS

SHIP’S SUPPLY                   24v.

RINGMAIN                           
220v AC ring main with 10 double, 13 Amp, 3-pin Clipsal outlet sockets located as appropriate within the layout. Units are from the Vimar "Idea" Range with black chrome "Classica" surrounds.

BATTERIES                           
A bank of 12 x 6v batteries is wired in series to give approximately 920 Amp hours at 24v for the domestic supply. These batteries are heavy-duty, 'deep-cycle' Varta type.

Power from a separate 88 Amp hour 12v generator starting battery.

All batteries are positively secured against inversion in the case of a knockdown.

All battery stowage areas are vented to the exterior of the vessel.

8 Surrette Rolls heavy-duty 6v units in a single bank to give 1640Ah, fitted with Hydrocaps for minimum water loss.

Buffer bank of 12v gel batteries to run electronics and computers, charged with 24v DC to 12v DC converters off the main 24v bank. Fitted with separate monitoring and dropper failure lights.

BATTERY MANAGEMENT                               
2 x 100 Amp Mastervolt chargers with one having variable intake control on panel.              1 x extra 24v, 100 Amp Mastervolt charger, Provides 300 Amps of charging off generator only. Mastervolt Alpha Pro regulator. Masterview Easy Control Panel acting as a voltmeter and ammeter to accurately monitor the ship's batteries. Emergency link system between the domestic 24v battery bank and the 24v engine start battery.

INVERTER                            
Mastervolt MASS 24/5000 sine wave inverter. Additional inverter for icemaker only.                                     

SHOREPOWER                     2 x 32 Amp dockside power cables, each 3-core double-insulated PVC, 23m (70') in length. Hubbell sockets are located in the transom. The dockside end of the cables are fitted with a 3-pin, 32 Amp plug.

 

INTERIOR LIGHTING            Downlight type lights in polished chrome finish with downlighters over reading areas. Overhead lights to give soft indirect lighting in the porthole areas of the saloon, aft cabin and all guest cabins. Strip lights and downlights in each head, as well as galley work surfaces. Refrigerator automatic door light.

Galley overhead red LED light and chart table overhead red lights each fitted with small switches in the overhead next to each light.

Two swivelling spotlights in headlining just aft of main bulkhead in lower saloon to illuminate picture on bulkhead.

5 x red LED low-level nightlights switched from one central switch for night sailing, all in saloon, passage and galley area.
