The Dufour 34 Performance is a speedy sailing boat for enjoying the Chesapeake Bay in the summer. With 663 sq ft of sail area, you’ll move pretty well in all conditions. While we have sold some of the larger Dufour a smaller boat that you can untie in the afternoon to tear across the Bay and back for a really fun sunset cruise. She’s a really good looking boat that sails incredibly well. Kamal as she is called is lightly used in great shape with only 52 hours on her Volvo diesel. With draft under 5’ you can go anywhere you want and tuck in to any creek and with two sleeping cabins in addition to the salon settees there is room to enjoy a little family cruise. She’s clean and very nice down below with Moabi mahogany joinery that gives her some real warmth and ambiance. Most importantly, she sails so well that you will have a lot of fun. The cockpit is large enough for the whole crew to enjoy. With all the control lines led aft to the cockpit and a single line reefing system with the stack pak with lazy jacks it is pretty easily to sail this boat without leaving the cockpit.

Dufour Yachts was founded by Michel Dufour who was an engineer and sailing enthusiast. It is of course French and he built his factory in La Rochelle France. In La Rochelle which is nestled in the Southwest of France on the Bay of Biscay, it often blows 35knots on any given afternoon. It is not unusual to see small boats running out of the harbor for a windy sail. The Dufour 34 is one of the smallest Dufour in the Performance series. Michel Dufour has always believed  that sailing should continue to embody a pioneering and adventurous spirit. He is determined to take sailing pleasure to new heights by embracing new technology. After 50 years, the company continues to move with the times embracing of new technologies and innovative materials, He was also a sailor who appreciated performance.

The Dufour is built using modern methods of FGP vacuum bagged construction with PVC foam core above the waterline for reduced weight with adequate strength. That is what makes her so sporty. These modern processes are now proven and the boat certainly meets all of its design specifications! After all, the Dufour 34 is designed to make sailing really fun. She is designed for performance on all points of sail with speed and manoeuvrability whether you want to go for a single hand sail or race around the buoys.

The Dufour is just a lot of fun for a family or a racing sailor to enjoy the Bay. Kamal is a great example of this performance sailboat. You will not be disappointed in this boat and she will get your family out sailing!

The Dufour 34 Perforamance sloop has accommodations for four adults with two private sleeping cabins plus the salon settees for the crew! The single head is located aft to starboard at the companionway which is really nice when you are under way and there is even a stall shower which also makes a convenient wet locker. The salon is spacious with two curved settees and a centerline dropleaf table that seats seven in the dining area. The upholstery is removeable and washable and looks great. There is storage under the settees and also behind the settee seatbacks with cabinetry and a bookshelf outboard on each side.

The L-shaped galley is very workable so you can actually cook up a meal for that hungry crew. There is enough storage and counterspace, actually Corian counters, that you will find the galley very nice to work in. It is located in the right spot near the companionway also so you can pass up the sandwiches.

With five deck hatches, four opening ports and two fixed portlights the boat is spacious and light and bright with nice ventilation. The Moabi mahogany joinery is warm and well executed with fiddles and moldings of solid wood. The doors are louvered for good air circulation. The cabin sole is laminated marine plywood with a Moabi wood overlay with a durable finish. You will appreciate that she really feels like a nice boat. You even have a nav station with a chart table down below. The entertainment system includes a stereo and interior speaker system.

The forward cabin has a rather large V-berth with a full length stowage shelf and a hanging locker with shelves and a dressing seat. The seat is also a nice shoe locker. There is storage under the berth and a water tank also.

The second cabin is aft to port on the quarter with standing headroom and a thick foam mattress with a removable washable cover. The large hanging locker has a double door and stowage shelve. There is a nice dressing seat with storage under it. The shelf along the hull side provides more stowage. There is ventilation with a deck hatch and opening port as well as good lighting with a dome light and a reading lamp.

The aft cabin also gives you good access to the back of the engine through an access panel and there is a fuel tank and a water tank under the berth.

The boat is clean and elegant in its sophisticated European design with accommodations for four, a large cockpit, and a swim step transom. It is a very nice little cruiser that you can totally enjoy.
