Freestyle is a beautiful example of this performance cruiser. Built in 2003, she is extremely comprehensively equipped and has been meticulously maintained. Opposite the galley the folding table fixture is extended to provide additional storage for provisions:     stainless steel grab rails and a removeable wooden worktop

Central in the saloon the folding table has a storage bin and another set up to accommodate bottles

Storage is versatile with  half length hanging cupboards in each cabin and the saloon as well as  a variety of bins with wooden tops and under bunk stowage .

Berth cushions are 4’’ (10cm)deep.

The navigation area is in the saloon to starboard. The forward facing full sized chart table has a dedicated seat with stowage under and a book rack behind. The electrical distribution board with circuit breakers, plotter, Simrad radio, Navtex and Echomax controllers are to hand.

The unusually large cockpit locker to starboard can be accessed from a small door in the heads. The shallower cockpit locker to port accommodates mooring lines , spare sheets  etc.,.  The gas bottle has its own locker aft of this.

“The hull mouldings are positively conventional, even traditional. Solid laminate is used below the waterline, incorporating isophthalic resins, woven rovings and chopped strand mat. Above the waterline there is a balsa core which is also incorporated in the horizontal surfaces of the deck. There are solid pads in way of fittings “



Freestyle is extremely well set up for her primary role as a family cruising boat. However her sail inventory will support the owner wishing to try their hand at Club racing. White sails and  the furling asymmetric are of very good quality and the low usage is more relevant than date of manufacture.

The two furling gears on the foredeck allow Channel crossings to be made  with the confidence that if the wind pipes up the genoa can be furled and the heavy weather jib deployed, all from the cockpit. The autopilot is sturdy , reliable and a genuine “extra hand”.

The Duogen in water mode will support the power demands of the autopilot when cross channel sailing. When anchored, wind mode provides power to the batteries if the breeze is strong enough.

The large cockpit with drinks table and folding wheel is accommodating for a family. The cavernous cockpit locker to starboard is a real asset to the cruising family , swallowing the unavoidable clutter that is the  by-product of a successful cruise.  The port locker is handy for mooring lines , spare sheets etc.,

Below decks provisions are readily absorbed by the storage within the central table and behind the galley. In a marina, shore power and the ring main to each cabin support family demands for recharging mobiles and tablets etc.,

Plotters, at the chart table and the helm with radar and AIS support sound passage making.

Feeling build quality is well known and she has been professionally maintained since new. This boat benefits from the many enhancements over the years including the extra navigation equipment which still does the job it was designed to do. The same can be said of the sails.
