1. CONSTRUCTION

HULL NUMBER
Oyster 53/12.

HULL CONSTRUCTION
Laid-up GRP, single skin with structural stringers and floors to Lloyds approved design specification. HULL FINISH White hull with cove line and double boot top lines in standard Oyster blue. Hull barrier coat in 2007 as proactive measure.

DECK CONSTRUCTION
Moulded in GRP with balsa core.

DECK FINISH
Teak laid decks. Bulwark finished with a teak capping rail.

KEEL
High performance bulb (HPB) external lead keel.

RUDDER
Fully protected skeg-hung rudder.

STERN DESIGN
‘Sugar scoop’ stern design with bathing platform trimmed with teak slats and stainless steel steps for access to the stern deck.

 

2. DECK LAYOUT AND EQUIPMENT

ANCHOR
Primary anchor: 34kg (75lb) CQR anchor with 107m (350’) of 10mm (3/8”) chain. Secondary anchor: 22kg (48lb) Bruce anchor with chain and rode, stowed in chain locker. Sea anchor/drogue. Generous anchor locker on foredeck with removable partition at forward end for kedge warp and chain stowage.

WINDLASS
Newly rebuilt Lewmar 24V Ocean 3 electric anchor windlass with new motor (2017).

Essential features include sculpted fiddles and grabrails, ‘shadow-gap’ joints between panels and Oyster custom knobs for lockers and drawers.

The table is mounted on a substantial pedestal, which incorporates a bottle locker in its base.

Stitched panel two-seater settee to port.

NAVIGATION AREA
To port, the chart table area is customised around the flush-mounted electronics and navigation equipment. Accommodating the 19” LCD ship’s computer, larger 16” chart plotter, radios, gauges and satellite telephone.
Computer loaded with Nobeltec charting software and charts.
Provision for stowage of half-folded Admiralty charts, books and almanacs.

CAPTAIN’S CABIN/WORKSHOP
Doubles as a single berth with custom cushion. Situated below the cockpit on the port side with additional 1.5” headroom. Raised workbench with stainless steel work surface and storage lockers underneath. Chart stowage drawer under stainless steel worktop. Computer, printer and CPU storage underneath.

GALLEY
To starboard of the cockpit in the companionway to the aft cabin. Custom stainless steel rack and bins next to sink for bulk storage. Wustaf kitchen knives in custom storage drawer rack. Integrated carbon monoxide gas detector.
