Description

The Tartan 4100 hit the mark when Tim Jackett set out to create a performance cruiser. Built from 1996 until 2008, it has been the most prolific over forty-foot performance cruiser in Tartan’s 56-year history. With her head turning good looks, solid, safe construction and powerful sail plan, the Tartan 4100 is well respected for her speed and exceptional performance.

The large T-shaped cockpit has comfortable seating and primaries within easy reach of the helm. With all control lines led aft to the safety of the cockpit, she is easily handled by a couple. The 27” high lifelines, wide side decks and effective non-skid make working on deck safe.

Below decks, her hand crafted teak interior and quality materials throughout display a craftsmanship that blends innovative design features with classic good looks. The two cabin/two head layout provides comfortable accommodations for you and your guests and affords privacy in the process. The galley is spacious, with loads of refrigeration and counter space and is designed for offshore work, with good bracing space and handholds.

Our offering, “FIRST LIGHT”, has served her owners well and been upgraded extensively over the last few years. Some highlights include:

  • Genset added
  • Standing rigging replaced
  • Sails updated
  • Max-Prop
  • Steering rebuilt
  • Inverter/charger and batteries replaced
  • Electronics replaced with Raymarine e-Series, including radar and AIS

Her owners sailed her to the Med and enjoyed her there for a while, then put her on a ship back to the States. She now sits in our yard and is ready for new owners to set off on their own explorations. Her Majestic Blue hull and toast fabric are certainly eye-catching wherever you take her.

If you are looking for a quality, made in America cruising boat that is equally at home cruising locally, rounding the buoys or headed offshore for distant horizons, “FIRST LIGHT” is certainly more than capable and worthy of your personal inspection. Call and make an appointment to see her today!

Accommodations

Forward stateroom: As you enter the cabin, the double doors to your right contain a cedar lined hanging locker on one side and shelving on the other.  There is a fiddled shelf above and fiddled shelves lining the hull sides.  The berth length is a comfortable 6’10”x 20”x 6’8”, with two drawers on the face of the berth and storage beneath it as well.  Molded nonskid steps makes getting in and out of the berth easy.  There are 2 brass overhead lights, a pair of LED reading lamps, 2 overhead hatches, 2 opening ports and a Hella fan. Forward stateroom head room is 6’2”.

Saloon: The drop leaf saloon table is on centerline and can easily seat six. It converts to a double berth using an insert.  There is storage beneath the table top and has two drawers on the aft end.  The port settee is C-shaped, with storage and a water tank beneath it and storage behind it on the aft end.  Above and behind is a fiddled shelf; above that are two louvered door lockers with fiddled shelves, bottle storage and forward of that a locker with shelves.  There is a lee cloth for off shore passages.  On starboard, the 6’6” settee has storage and wine rack beneath it, with storage behind the back on the aft end and another lee cloth.  Above and behind that is a fiddled shelf, a bi-fold doored entertainment cabinet and a single door locker with shelves forward.  There is fiddled shelving between the cabinets.

The entire galley/nav/saloon area has 8 opening ports, 2 dorade vents, an overhead hatch and 4 Hella fans.  There is a pair of brass reading lights at the forward end of each settee and 9 overhead lights. The saloon head room is 6’5”.

Galley: The galley is located at the base of the companionway on port.  Deep double sinks are oriented towards centerline and have a storage locker and tip-out trash bin beneath them.  There is a drop-down dish rack shelf that folds up and stows neatly against the bulkhead when not in use.  Along the hull side and beneath the counter there is a narrow locker with a shelf and 2 drawers, followed by the stove, with fiddled storage beneath that.  Above and behind the counter are a pair of large double door lockers with shelving.  A fiddled storage space behind the stove and a microwave is between the lockers.  Facing forward, there is a very large icebox with double lid access from the top and an access door on the front.

The entire galley area was designed for off-shore use, with good bracing points for the sink and stove and plenty of convenient hand holds. The galley head room is 6’4”.

Nav station: Across from the galley is the navigation station.  There is a tall locker with shelves and a fiddled shelf above it aft.  Next forward is the electrical panel, with 4 drawers and a fiddled counter space beneath that.  Continuing forward the nav top will easily accommodate chart books and has good storage below it.  The nav chair is upholstered in leather, has arms and can swivel to face guests in the saloon as well. Head room is 6’4”.

Heads:

Forward: As you enter, the head is directly ahead and has a mirrored medicine cabinet behind it.  To the right of that is a sink, with storage below and a locker with shelves along the hull.   Along the hull side cabinets is a fiddled shelf.  There is one overhead light, with an overhead hatch and opening port for ventilation. There is 6’1” head room in this space.

Aft:  The head is located aft on starboard.  The separate shower has a louvered door, hanging locker, molded non-skid seat and shower wand on an adjustable height bar.  Aft of that is the Corian countertop with a molded in sink.  There is a locker beneath the sink and a mirrored medicine cabinet and another with shelves and sliding doors above it. The head is located on the aft end of the space and has a wet hanging locker behind it.  There is another door leading to the aft stateroom.  There are two overhead lights, an opening port and an overhead hatch in this space. Headroom is 6’3”.

Aft stateroom:  The aft stateroom is entered behind the galley on port. As you enter there is a louvered locker that is a combination of cedar-lined hanging and shelving.  Continuing along the port wall there are two sliding-door lockers with a fiddled shelf above.  Below that there is a small fiddled shelf and a drop-down front locker.  There is another drop-front locker beneath the cockpit space on centerline. The berth is a spacious 76”x 68”.   Ventilation for this cabin is great, with 4 opening ports, an overhead hatch and a Hella fan.  There is one overhead and one reading light.  There is an entry to the head via this cabin; headroom is 6’4”.
