Description

The International J/80 is a fixed keel One-Design sportsboat that’s certified for offshore sailing. Designed by Rod Johnstone, the focus of the J/80 was to make a boat that was safe and easy to sail and capable of reaching 20 knots downwind. The J/80 may be enjoyed as a performance-oriented day-sailor or as a one design or PHRF racer. As a one-design, the J/80 has become a very popular class due to emphasis on fun and affordability. Sail inventory per the class rules is restricted to a main, headsail and gennaker with a total crew weight of 756 lbs. While usually raced with a crew of 3-4 people, the J/80 easily accommodates 4-6 people for day sailing.

"Stinger” was purchased new in 1999 and her owners have kept her beautifully maintained by one of the most professional yards in New England. She has been stored indoors each and every winter and her topsides were professionally re-painted in 2009. Her owners have mostly used the boat for day sailing with some occasional local handicap racing mixed in.

"Stinger” is in excellent condition and beautifully represents this very popular design.
