Remarkably this1982 Westerly Griffon has only had one owner from new but now poor health forces her sale. Ideal for single handed / short crewed sailing the Griffon has a reputation as a safe vessel, well suited to coastal cruising but capable of making long passages in comfort. Lack of use over the past couple of years has left "Opal" needing a new owner to lavish some love and attention to bring her back to her best. Priced to sell.
Built to Lloyds Register standards with heavily constructed GRP hull and deck and sturdy masthead sloop rig. Deep, safe cockpit, wide side decks and uncluttered foredeck. Bow roller for anchor with chain locker in forepeak. Stainless steel push-pit and pulpit fittings connected by twin guard-wires along with jackstays for safety on deck. Bilge keels and transom hung rudder. Suitable for drying moorings.
Powered by a Bukh DV20ME 20hp inboard diesel engine. Bank of 3 12V batteries for engine start and domestic power charged via engine, solar charger or mains powered battery charger.
Diesel fuelled cabin heating extends comfortable use of the boat into the colder months.

Accommodation and layout
"Opal" has the traditional layout for British boats of her age. The secure cockpit can seat 6 people with the tiller tied to one side. Descending into the saloon, to port is a good sized quarter berth which butts onto the settee / single berth. To starboard is the galley with 2 burner hob, oven and grill, stainless steel sink, electric icebox and a variety of storage. The sink has manually pumped cold water.
Forward of the galley is a second settee / single berth with a trotter box for taller crew. A central table has 2 large folding leaves. The engine is housed beneath the companionway steps which can be removed to give good access for maintenance. Diesel fuelled cabin heating extends the comfortable use of the boat into the colder months.
Forward of the saloon, to port is the enclosed heads which have been converted to a chemical toilet for lake use. The original sea toilet is with the boat should you wish to revert to a pump out heads. There is a hand basin which pulls forward to make access easier.Opposite the heads is a hanging locker and forward again is the Fore-cabin with the twin / double V berth and plenty of storage beneath.
