A new Ribeye safety boat has been presented to Northampton Sailability. Handed over at the London Boat Show in January, the purchase of the new boat was made possible by a £12,000 donation from the staff of Barclaycard in Northampton after their extraordinarily successful Christmas Raffle. Chris Dabbs, a wheelchair user and keen sailor, said: “Generous terms for the supply of the boat by the boat manufacturer Ribeye and engine maker Yamaha helped us enormously with this project and we are very grateful for their help.”

Northampton Sailability has its own fleet of sailing dinghies and keelboats, which are used by people with disabilities of all kinds to go sailing on the well-known Pitsford Reservoir near Northampton. Two Drascombe Longboats are also used to take groups for fully crewed trips round the 450-acre reservoir. Northampton Sailability is run entirely by unpaid volunteers, but new members and volunteers are always welcome, so if you want to get involved, see Northampton Sailability.
