  2. Westerly Discus

    Portavadie, Argyll & Bute

The Westerly Discuss designed by Laurent Giles is a well-known cruiser that is a pleasure to sail. These yachts were built to last and are a popular choice for those who want a steady and predictable sail. This particular model is a 33'-3" long 10 ton aft cockpit cruising sloop with a large saloon and two separate double cabins. The yacht was commissioned in October 1982.   CONSTRUCTION: The yacht has a GRP hull and deck, self draining aft cockpit, semi-balanced rudder, cast iron bilge keel, and copper bottom anti-fouling. The decks are finished in blue diamond treadmaster.   ENGINE: Volvo MD17D 3 cylinder 36hp Electric starting Reverse gear Fresh water cooled 35 gallon fuel capacity 3 bladed fixed propeller Morse controls Rev. counter Temperature gauge There are two new 90ah 12v batteries (3 in total) with a change-over/isolator switch and the gearbox is fully reconditioned Shore power with sockets   RIG & SAILS: Bermudan sloop Alloy mast, main boom and telescopic spinnaker boom all by Kemp Stainless steel standing rigging Terylene running rigging all lead aft to cockpit through stopper In-mast reefing A suite of sails, which includes spare mainsail, headsail, and spinnakers.   ACCOMMODATION: The yacht has a traditional 7 berth layout with dinette arrangement in the saloon which converts to a double and a single settee berth. The forward and aft cabins are both double berth. The saloon with 6ft 3" in headroom is finished in light teak with 3 lockers and generous shelf space each side and further lockers below seats. There is a chart table in teak with three drawers and chart stowage to port. The galley has 2 gas burners, grill, oven, fridge, sink with hot & cold water supply to starboard and is fully stocked with kitchenware. The yacht benefits from a diesel run Eberspacher central heating system that keeps it warm and cozy in the winter and has a Pioneer sound system (CD and radio).   EQUIPMENT AND OTHER: Autohelm Wind and Tridata Autohelm Multi & GPS Autohelm ST 4000 (needing repaired) Autohelm Personal compass Plastimo main and Hand-bear'g compass NASA Target Navtex Pro Furuno Radar Sumlog Pioneer radio/CD Gas detector Brass clock and barometer XM Baltic 6 person lifecraft McMurdo 406 EPIRB Danbuoy Lifebuoys Dinghy (used twice)   ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: I am her 3rd owner and have owned her for 6 years. For a 35 year old boat, she is in great structural condition, with no osmosis and as a category A yacht, has kept me and my family particularly safe in dry and heavy weather. Over wintered ashore. The yacht is lying ashore at Portavadie Marina. I am selling her at a reduced price as the cockpit and bridgedeck teak sheathing is needing repaired/replaced. There are general mild signs of wear and tear, typical of a vessel of this type and age. TLC and a little time would bring her up to an excellent condition. Please do not hesitate to get in contact if you have any questions. URL: PRICE: £18000  (advertised elsewhere)
