To see a large cargo ship being tossed about and snapped in two brings home how severe the weather has been this winter.

See the power of the sea in action as a ship breaks into two pieces in the waves, just like a child’s toy.

A pollution warning was issued on the Atlantic coast of France after the Spanish container ship Luna was washed ashore during gales earlier this month. Video footage of the ship snapping in two under the onslaught of the destructive waves on the breakwater of the port of Bayonne is amazing to watch.

But we think the star of the show is the rescuer hanging from the helicopter, who really ought to be locked away for his (or her) own safety! Thanks to the efforts of everyone involved, there was no loss of life and everyone lived to tell the tale – apart from the cargo ship. See for yourself by clicking on the video link below.
